About the Department

In 1958, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established as a fundamental engineering branch of the Government-Assisted Course. It was also one of the main departments of Sankar Polytechnic College (Autonomous), which was under the jurisdiction of the Directorate of Technical Education. The institute received academic autonomy in 1994.

Ever since, there has been steady progress in every area, such as staff and student development, infrastructure, and facilities. In 2004, the department initiated a self-financing course with the aim of producing more electrical engineers for the society. The department's strengths include its highly skilled and knowledgeable instructors and support staff, well-stocked laboratories, stellar academic outcomes, solid industry ties, and its alums. The department's primary goal is to offer top-notch engineering and technology education. The department uses an approach to teaching and learning that is outcome-based.

Electrical engineering faculty members in the department number more than fifteen. During the academic year 1989–1990, the department was also acknowledged by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), located in New Delhi. We periodically plan conferences, symposiums, guest lectures, industrial visits, faculty development programs, and conferences to help professors and students improve their knowledge and abilities in accordance with the curriculum. Our goal is to foster students' overall excellence by motivating them to engage in a range of extracurricular activities.

The EEE Department student technical association is run by students of the Electrical Department. The main objective of the association is to provide a platform for students to explore their skills and knowledge through curricular and extracurricular activities. This association is committed to the overall development of department students by organizing various events such as workshops, guest lecturers, quizzes, webinars, contests, and paper presentations.
