Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering

About the Department

In 1958, the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established as a core engineering discipline within the Government-Assisted Course. It is also one of the main departments of Sankar Polytechnic College (Autonomous), which is under the administration of the Directorate of Technical Education. The department was also recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), which is based in New Delhi, during the academic year 1989–1990. In 1994, academic autonomy was granted to the institute.

Since then, there has been constant advancement in all areas, including facilities, infrastructure, and the development of personnel and students. To produce more electrical engineers for the community, the department started a self-financing course in 2004. Strengths of the department include its alumni’s, well-stocked laboratories, excellent academic results, strong industrial connections, and highly qualified and informed lecturers and support staff. Providing excellent engineering and technology education is the department's main objective. The department takes an outcome-based approach to teaching and learning.

The department has more than fifteen academic members who specialize in electrical engineering. In accordance with the curriculum, we organize conferences, symposiums, guest lectures, industry visits, faculty development programs, and conferences on a regular basis to support instructors and students in advancing their expertise. By encouraging students to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities, we hope to promote overall excellence in them.

Students in the Electrical Department are in charge of the Student's Technical Association. The association's primary goal is to give students an opportunity to explore their knowledge and abilities via both extracurricular and curricular activities. By planning different events like workshops, guest lectures, quizzes, webinars, contests, and paper presentations, this association demonstrates its commitment to the entire growth of department’s students.
