The Canada India Institutional Co operation Project (CIICP) was launched in Sankar Polytechnic College in the year. This project has been mandated by an MoU between the Government of Canada and India .

The project was executed by the association of Canadian Community Colleges and overall direction was provided by the ministry of Human Resource Development Agency Canada .

The Southern operational plan of CIICP is a partnership between selected candidates and Indian Institutions to work together and strengthen the capabilities of Indian polytechnic.

This project is managed by the state project co-ordination unit established under the Directorate of Technical Education Chennai.
