Report of the Free Statistical Tool for Social Science Research
At Sankar Polytechnic College National digital library club organised a webinar on the topic of " Free Statistical Tool for Social Science Research” with the collaboration of The Madura College (Autonomous), Madurai, Sri Sarada College for Women (Autonomous), Tirunelveli, Soka Ikeda College of Arts and Science for Women, Chennai on 16th March, 2024. Dr C Hema, Librarian, The Madura College, Madurai welcomed the gathering. Dr A Sankara Subramanian Principal gave the presidencial address. Mr RV Srinivasan AO gave the felicitation address. Dr G Radha, Librarian, Sri Sarada College for Women, Tirunelveli introduced the chief guest Dr K Ramasamy, College Librarian, M.V.Muthiah Government Arts College for Women, Dindigul. He explained and gave a demo to use the Free Statistical Tool “R” effectively. 161 participants from 4 Colleges were benefited by this event. Dr B Vijayalakshmi Librarian, SPC proposed vote of thanks. Zoom platform used to organise this event successfully. With the national anthem program came to an end.
Report on Cyber Security for Students
At Sankar Polytechnic College, Tirunelveli, Library Club and National digital library club jointly organised Cyber Security for Students on 30 th January, 2024. Dr A Sankara Subramanian Principal presided over the programme. Mr R V Srinivasan, Mr S Ramesh, III Comp delivered a Felicitation Address. Dr D Ravichandran , Protection and Security Manager, Bosch Limited, Gangaikondan delivered the chief guest address in the topic of Cyber Security for Students. Sir talked about basic components of Cyber Security, it's importance, security methods, social media mistakes, online behaviour, outing, impersonation, debugger denigration, exclusion, cyberstalking and so on.
Sir also explained about cyber security crime prevention tips, strong passwords, software updates. Dr B Vijayalakshmi Librarian organised this fruitful event. Before, the welcome address was given by Rohini, III Comp and Vote of thanks was proposed by Durga, III Comp. M Usha Priya did the master of ceremony. Dr B Vijayalakshmi Librarian organised this program.
Report on Give me 100 Youth
At Sankar Polytechnic College, library club and National digital library club jointly organised national youth Day celebration on account of Swami Vivekananda's Birthday on the topic of "Give me 100 Youth' on 12th January , 2024. Durga computer science welcomed the gathering. Rajasekhar EEE gave the master of ceremony. Dr A Sankara Subramanian Principal gave the presidency address. Mr RV Srinivasan AO gave the felicitation address. Dr B Vijayalakshmi librarian introduced the chief guest. .
Miss T Miruna Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Sri Sarada College for women delivered the chief guest address. She explained about history of Swami Vivekananda with small small stories. She also explained Swami Vivekananda's service, philosophy, foreign trips, Chicago address and so on. Dr B Vijayalakshmi librarian organised this program. Mr K Muthukumar did the program arrangements. Rohini 3rd computer science proposed vote of thanks. With the national anthem program came to an end.
Report on Discussion about Tamirabarani Flood
At Sankar Polytechnic College, Tirunelveli, Library Club and National digital library club jointly organised a discussion on Tamirabarani flood on 10 th January, 2024. Dr A Sankara Subramanian Principal presided over the programme. Ms K Jothi Rajameenakshi, Lec/ECE Direct Victim, one who is living at the river bank, Vannerpettai shared her flood experience, precautions, after flood works, helping hands, missing flood reliefs to the most affected people and so on.
And also Students understood the importance of protecting nature. Dr B Vijayalakshmi Librarian organised this fruitful event. Before, welcome address was given by Rohini, III Comp and Vote of thanks was proposed by Durga, III Comp.
Fall into Reading
Readers forum organized by National Digital Library Club and Library Club held at the Library, Sankar Polytechnic College, Tirunelveli on 13/07/2023. Book Reviews shared by students are as follows The Science of Interstellar Book by Kip Thorne by V S Praveen Kumar III EEE, Nineteen Eighty-Four Novel by George Orwell by J Jafrin Peerkhan, Tell me Why Magazine by K S Authinathan, III Mech, Thalli Podathey – self motivation Book by S Nangamuthu, III Mech and Wings of fire by III ECE. Dr A Sankara Subramanian, Principal, SPC gave review of Ponniyin Selvan by Kalki, Irumbu Kuthiraigal by Balakumaran.
And Sir suggested few good books - Freedom at Midnight is a non-fiction book by Larry Collins, Volga Se Ganga is a 1943 collection of 20 historical fiction short-stories by scholar and travel writer Rahul Sankrityayan. Sir suggested Kindle Books, Audio Books. Dr B Vijayalakshmi, Librarian has highlighted few books by Jeyakandhan, Thai by Maxim Karke, The Alchemist Novel by Paulo Coelho. She reviewed the Book, Velpari by Su Venkatesan. She throws lights on Pari, Kabilar, Neelan, Thekkan and their high qualities.
Second Readers forum held on 13th September 2023. These were the most beautiful and fruitful time for students and staff. This is the best way to seed reading habit among students. This would bring them as Lifelong Effective Independent Learner.
