Library Rules and Regulations

The Library is dedicated to providing a serene and conducive environment for learning and research. All members are expected to adhere strictly to the following rules and regulations to ensure the smooth operation and security of the facility.

Mandatory ID: Entry to the library is permitted only upon presentation of a valid college ID card.

Property Counter: All personal bags, backpacks, and large items must be deposited at the property counter before entering the main library area.

Prohibited Items: The consumption of food, beverages, and chewing gum is strictly prohibited in all library premises.

Security Inspection: All users must cooperate fully with the security staff for the inspection of books and personal items upon exiting the library.

Reference Materials: Reference books, journals, and marked materials are designated for internal use only and may not be removed from the library under any circumstances.

Overdue Fines: Books returned after the specified due date will incur overdue charges as determined by the library policy.

Loss or Damage: If an issued book is lost or significantly damaged, the member must replace the item or pay the replacement cost as per the Sankar Polytechnic College (SPC) norms.

Academic Use Only: Library computers and the Digital Library section are to be used exclusively for academic, research, and educational purposes. System Integrity: Users must not install, uninstall, or tamper with any software, programs, or system settings on the library computers.

Compliance and Penalty

Violation of any of these rules and regulations will be considered a serious breach of conduct and will result in disciplinary and punitive action against the Library User by the college administration.

Circulation Policy Summary

For Students (UG/PG/Research Scholars): Students can borrow up to three books at a time. The standard lending period for these books is 7 days, and they are permitted to use the book for a semester with every week renewal. Please note that a fine of 50 paisa per day will be applied for books returned or renewed after the due date.

For Faculty Members: Faculty can borrow up to ten books with a lending period of one Semester. They have to return the books at the end of the semester.

Loss and Damage Policy (All Members): If a borrowed book is lost or damaged, they must replace it with a new copy of the latest edition. If they are unable to replace the book, a charge equal to double (if the book is purchased within 10 years) or triple (if the book is purchased before 10 years) the original cost of the book, along with any accrued fines, will be collected for loss recovery.
